This is World AIDS Day. Last year I wrote, "... several people I know well enough to have hugged have spent considerable time doing work in AIDS research here in North Carolina. And several other people I know that well spend a considerable amount of time doing volunteer work with AIDS prevention projects and with AIDS patients."

That's still the case. Please help me honor these people by educating yourselves, by adopting safe practices (sexual and otherwise), and by supporting others in doing likewise.

I am, these days, keeping a watchful eye on someone I love dearly who lost someone close to him to AIDS. The grief my friend is feeling is deep, and will last a lifetime. I will do anything necessary to avoid bringing that particular grief to someone. Please join me.

On a less-serious note, I am participating this year in Holidailies, a group of writers who promise to try very, very hard to update daily all month. I am familiar with the work of quite a few of the other writers, and am looking forward to becoming familiar with others.
