Some anniversaries are harder than others. My mother died 14 years ago today. And this year, it's hard.

This year I definitely am the "motherless child" of the folk song, "a long way from home." And I'd much rather go back twenty years or so to when things were good for her and for me, and freeze time for a while.

Maybe even back to the August day in the 1980s when this picture was taken. That was a good day.
