Sunday - December 30 If you listen through a famous-people-who-died-this-year list that's way the hell too long, it's good to have CBS's Charles Osgood read it to you. There is something peaceful about his voice. You hear the sympathy and the loss, because after all he knew some of these people, but you don't get either syrup or disdain. I'm not much of a fan of syrup or disdain, which may well be why I like Mr. Osgood's presentation so much. And it really was a long, long list this year. May all those on any of our lists this year be remembered well, with neither syrup nor disdain.
