Storing - November 28 Continuing the notion of searching leading to cleaning, I've done more of that, and a good bit of thinking. I've been recognizing what doesn't work for me, in terms of storage, and thinking about ways that will work better. Which brings me to storing tapestry needles. For the uninitiated, tapestry needles are those with fairly blunt points, used with yarn or heavier thread. I've had the same five or six of them for over thirty years now, from when I joined the now-defunct Needle Arts Society and they were part of the package of goodies one received at the time. For years I was really good at putting them back in their case. Then I started doing a whole lot more handwork that needed a tapestry needle for finishing. And I kept poking the needle into the ball of yarn once I finished the whatever, much like one would stick a sharp needle through a few strands of thread on the spool. And that's fine except after doing it several times with different balls of leftover yarn, I was losing track of the yarn and the needles. So I'm trying to retrain myself to put the tapestry needles back into their case, or at the very least attach them by magnet to something near me, in plain sight. I'm still deciding where the best place for the needles in their case will be, but I'm leaning heavily toward the small chest where my sewing supplies live. The case, at the moment, is in a needlework project bag. And the reason to move it is that the case keeps getting lost in the bag and I am tired of having to search for it. Laziness as motivation.
