There was a retail foray this afternoon, but it was for weekend groceries instead of last-minute presents. It was late afternoon, and by the time I was through in the store, the town holiday snowflakes were lit.

Against the dusky winter sky, they were bright with the joy of the season, though their shape was a bit hidden by the distance. They are found many places in the town, on the street sides of utility poles.

Tonight, the snowflakes will help light the way for those coming home for the holidays.

As the quietness of Christmas Eve night descends, my thoughts are with those I love. I wish for them and for all a lovely day tomorrow, whether or not Christmas is being celebrated.
