December 3

For a second year, we are being threatened with nasty iciness the first week in December. I am hoping really really hard that we are spared this go-round. As much as I appreciate the hospitality of Camp Law Firm, I'd just as soon not repeat the experience this year.

At this point, I'm fairly sure the same is true for Wendy and her husband, especially with his current spate of back problems.

Meanwhile, the law firm's extended family lost a member yesterday. Associate 1's older cat, Gumdrop, had to be euthanized. Something was preventing Gumdrop from being able to get nutrients from her food. The family's veterinarians could not pinpoint the exact cause, but the results were obvious: the poor kitty was losing weight at a very rapid pace. And in the last few days, Gumdrop had let her family know it was time. The last goodbye was last night.

Please send a good thought for Associate 1 and her family. This illness and loss for them is the latest in a string of illnesses during this year. And Gumdrop was a prominent member of the household, whose presence will be missed.

The day itself was a busy one. Kathy and I spent some time trying to troubleshoot a problem with the billing program, then went on to finish the other things we needed to get finished. We were all working just a bit harder to get things finished, in case the weather disrupts the rest of the week.

Latest word from the meteorologist I trust the most is that the precipitation coming tomorrow and this weekend will be merely liquid. That, as you may have guessed, is the best news I've had today.

Holidailies

I am participating this year in Holidailies, a group of writers who promise to try very, very hard to update daily all month. I am familiar with the work of quite a few of the writers, and am enjoying becoming familiar with others.
