Good Combinations

A member of a group I'm in got very perturbed over the weekend and posted a letter to the group about why she plans to leave it. Seems that in her mind, the group's chosen topics have moved too far afield from the original intent.

But what I just stated in two sentences she took well over a page to say. I can understand her frustration, though I don't particularly agree with her. In her page-plus of complaining, she made snarky remarks about the topics in 95 per cent of the postings to the group over the last few months, and wondered why nothing she was interested in was ever discussed.

She was answered by a couple of people who agreed with her, that it would indeed be nice of the group went back to the good old days (which was several years before my time). But the majority of people who responded pointed out that her computer probably has a delete key, and if she wasn't interested in a particular thread on the list, she was welcome to delete anything about it.

It was also pointed out to her that she could always start a thread by asking a question or posting her observations.

Those answering were polite, and very diplomatic in their replies. And the solutions they proposed were based on common sense.

Those are good combinations.
