Sharing Hope - December 11

One of the nicest things I've heard of this holiday season is a gesture by some neighbors of Kay Yow, the coach of NC State University's women's basketball team. Coach Yow is taking some time off from her job to undergo chemotherapy for her second bout of breast cancer.

There are several people in her community also dealing with serious health concerns this Advent. Coach Yow mentioned to some of the neighbors that a specific tree in the neighborhood would make an excellent Christmas tree, and would be a way of sharing the hope of the season.

The neighbors took her comment and ran with it. The tree is now decorated with many strands of lights, and Coach Yow was present for its first lighting tonight.

It was just a few minutes ago, so it hasn't made it to the tv station's website, but I am pleased to tell you that Coach Yow looks good and sounds very strong and positive.

And I'll add mine to the prayers being offered for her and the others in her community.
