Perspective - June 14

One of the bigger problems with depression is perspective getting lost. Things get magnified or dwarfed, instead of staying their nice normal sizes.

It's a lot like having a set of fun house mirrors in your brain.

What usually gets magnified is the not-so-good stuff. Everyday problems. The little annoyances. The small disappointments.

Unfortunately, the magnified version often looms quite large. It can take over too much of the field of vision in the mind's eye.

What usually gets dwarfed is the good stuff. Hope. The fact that various kinds of help are available. The fact that people love you and want to help however they can.

It's wonderful when perspective returns.
