Friday Items - March 25

After three weeks of misbehaving as it pleased, the shredder has been replaced. Younger Partner went shopping on his lunch break today, and came in with a spiffy updated model of the one we had been using.

When he took it out of the box, Kathy took one look at it and exclaimed, "R2D2!" Yes, we are fans, and the resemblance is striking. Younger Partner promptly thanked her for putting that image in his head. But we all agreed that so long as our new R2 didn't do anything outlandish, like start talking, we'd be fine.

Kathy did the honors once the machine was plugged in, and cross-cut shredding without jams has resumed in the office. I went back to my work, which was, you guessed it, more tax returns and file openings.

A little later in the afternoon I went outside to smoke and happened to be there just in time for the show. An attorney at another law firm in the complex has been rather faithfully using his gym membership for the past year or so, and is apparently quite pleased with the results.

There have been several times when he's shown up in workout clothes, or in shorts and t-shirts. Today he showed up in an incredibly tight pair of spandex pants. I mean so tight that I can tell you all but what color his boxers were, and yes I am absolutely sure it was boxers. This outfit gave the notion of "visible panty line" a new meaning. Probably not one he'd like.

After the entertainment portion of the day, the rest of the afternoon and the night so far have been uneventful. After a busy week, uneventful is a very good thing.
