Tell us, Becky, when did the evening rain start in Chapel Hill?

Funny you should ask that. It started just as I was leaving the office. And it was just hard enough to make a mess of the pine pollen collected on my windshield. This is, after all, that time of year when no matter what color car you think you own, it's apparent color is yellow-green.

Except for other pine trees, there's not much market for pine pollen. The honeybees don't seem to want to mess with it. I guess a little of it is collected for allergy shots, but apparently it's one of the low-level allergens out there. So there's plenty of it to go around for all the cars.

If you've never seen the stuff, it's a lot like chalk dust. If you're one whose school experiences included chalkboards, you might remember the dust that collected in the board's chalk tray, usually from the erasers. Pine pollen is about that shade of yellow, and very similar in consistency.

Hmm. Maybe that would be a use for the stuff---replacement chalk dust! I need to end this so I can look into getting a supply of felt erasers and chalk trays for collecting purposes...
