Ignorance is Not Always Bliss

I don't deal well with those who proclaim that the sky is falling and will land on my head. I particularly don't deal well with them when they are looking toward the grass when making such proclamations.

All of us have an obligation to be responsible, especially those who have chosen to make thoughts public. Yes, I'm a believer in free speech. I am also a big believer in knowing whereof you speak before doing so.

Specifically, if you're planning to use free speech to communicate about potential terrorist activities, know what the hell you're talking about before you publish or broadcast. Do some research into anthrax. Do some research into smallpox. Find out how very unlikely it is that either one of them will do their potential harm. Find out about avoidance of either.

It is presumed that if you have the ability to write or speak, you also have the ability to read or hear. Or to use Braille or sign language or some other means of getting information. Do not help those who would terrorize by presenting non-facts as truth.

Remember that fear is what the terrorists, known and unknown, are trying to incite.

Do not let them. And please do not help them do it.
