Safe Beats SorryI started writing about this year that's ending---but I'll hold off on that for tomorrow's entry. Today I'll say that I hope all planning parties or other celebrations for welcoming the next year will take heed of all the warnings about drinking and driving. If you think you've had too much to drink, don't ever be afraid to stop. If you think it's not safe for you to drive, then don't do it. It really is that simple. You might be inconvenienced for a while, by having to stay where you are, or by having to come back another time to get your car. But inconvenient beats dead any day. For the last few years, a number of hotels have started offering package deals for New Year celebrants, that include a place to sleep it off. That's such a good idea, for those who can afford it. But for those who can't, a lot of cities have cab companies or some other private concern that will offer free rides to partiers. Look into it, please, if you have even the remotest possible need to know. Last but not least, offer to be the designated driver who stays alcohol free. Trust me when I say it is easily possible to enjoy a party without booze. If you want to see Christmas in Beckyland, click here.
